This table provides a capsule summary of all Census 2000 data files distributed by PSC. If you need a brief reminder of the contents of these files, click on the links under the Contents column. If you are unfamiliar with Census data products refer to Subject Areas for a more complete description of these files and the modifications we have made to them.

Modified redistricting data were used as input. The coding of race has been simplified from 63 to 6 categories. Several measures were created based on different assumptions of the multi-race categories. Data were written in a fixed format. Population counts for 63 race categories and Hispanic or Latino. Selected population and housing characteristics. Population counts for many detailed race and Hispanic or Latino categories, and American Indian and Alaska Native tribes. |
Combined 40 separate files into 1 file (with the exception of several large states which have multiple files). The geographic information is in fixed format, while the tables still remain in a comma delimited format. This file is hierarchical because not all tables are available for all summary levels. Provide a data dictionary that reflects modifications. Provide a SAS program that illustrates how to read the hierarchical file. | Summary | Short form [100%] | Blocks |
