Census 2000 Redistricting Data Summary File [P.L. 94-171] - Race Recodes

This file provides a simplification of the race coding. The 63 race categories have been collapsed into six race groups: White, Black or African American, Native American or Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and Some other race. Different assumptions were made on handling the multi-race categories, which means there are several definitions of each of the six race groups. Details on the assumptions is provided under Coding of Race in the subject area section.

There is one file per state. The data are written in a fixed format. Documentation and SAS cards are available with the data
