If a user is only interested in a single census year, the historical integration of coding is tedious. However, the site is also an excellent source for historical information. The County Business Patterns data base provides county, state, and national level business data from 1977 to the most recent year available. Statistics include number of establishments, payroll (annual and 1st quarter), number of employees, and number of establishments by size class for 2 digit SIC industry groupings. These files were compiled from Census 2000 responses to the long-form (sample) questions on where people worked. The files present data at the county level for residents of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. A similar file containing data for county subdivisions (MCDs) in 12 states will be made available at a later date. County-To-County Worker Flow Files
This collection consists of four county-level data files. The first three provide arrests for Part I offenses and for Part II offenses. The fourth file provides reported offenses (as opposed to arrests) for Part I crimes only. Access Tools, Geographic Tools
This tool allows one to move back and forth between different levels of geography. For instance, one can determine which county a zip code is in or vise versa, which zip codes can be found in a county. Mable/Geocorr Correspondence Engine.
