| Abstract: | This is an extract from the 1960 Census (Sample A, 1 in 100), created for Sheldon Danziger while he was at the Institute for Research on Poverty. The focus of this extract is the individual. Characteristics of individuals such as age, race, marital status, education, and earnings are included. Also included are summations of variables across all family members. Examples would include number of children in family less than 1 year old, number of persons in family and total wage and salary income for all family members. The file is a rectangular file. Primary families consist of all related persons and unrelated persons 14 years old or younger. Secondary individuals are persons in a household unrelated to the head and 15 years old or older. Group quarter individuals are noninstutionalized persons 14 years old or older living in group quarters. |
| Universe: | All individuals from primary families, secondary individuals and group quarter individuals in the United States. |
