Abstract:This series of data is the summary tape data collected from the national sample survey of registered nurses during November of 1980, November of 1984 and March of 1988. Questionnaires were mailed to individuals with current licenses to practice as registered nurses. Responses to the survey were weighted to reflect the universe of registered nurses. These studies provide data on the demographic characteristics of the nurse population, their educational background, type of nursing employment and the functions performed, their hours of work and earnings, their activities if not employed in nursing and their geographic location.
