Abstract:This file is an extract from the 1980 PUMS (5% sample). It is for users who are not skilled at data manipulation. The file is rectangular. Variables such as education, type of migration stream, marital status, earnings, occupation, and other selected variables have been recoded. The main purpose of this file was to examine black/white internal migration in the United States. Respondents with a race other than white or black were deleted, as well as respondents that were of foreign birth or had a unknown birthplace.
Universe:Five percent sample of all persons and housing units in the United States, deleting races other than black and white and deleting non-U.S. births or unknown birthplace.
