Controlling IFS File Access (setacl)

To view access permissions, on IFS space, type fs listacl. Permissions for the current directory will be displayed. All files within that directory share that permission status.

fs listacl

  lsa.pops:members rl
  system:administrators rl
  system:anyuser rl
  lisan rlidwka

To change the permission status of a directory, change to the directory:

cd test

To remove "read" access to anyone but the owner:

fs setacl . lsa.pops:members l system:administrators l system:anyuser l

Any "child" of a directory will have the same permissions as the parent directory. However, if the parent directory has its permissions altered at a later date, the permission status does not change in the "child" directory.

To allow another user access to a directory:

fs setacl . suzanned rw

A menu-driven script, Permit, that sets permissions in IFS space is being developed. See PC-Staff for details or just try it out.
