UMCE Account

ITD provides a basic set of computing services at no charge to all registered students, faculty, and regular staff on the Ann Arbor campus. Service levels are fixed and provided on a per-term basis, with terms being defined as four- month periods beginning in January, May, and September.

The package provides each user with a uniqname and UMICH password, e-mail, laser printing in the ITD Campus Computing Sites, local dial-in access through MichNet, file storage on the Institutional File System (IFS), World Wide Web access (browser and Conferencing On the Web), Online Campus Directory Service, Login Service, Confer U participation, Usenet News, and help desk assistance on the services included in the package. See ITD's Basic Computing Package page for detailed descriptions of services included.

Additional services, beyond the basic package, for eligible faculty and staff can be paid for via departmental computing allocations, University accounts, or in some cases, self-funded accounts. If anyone at the Population Study Center finds themselves exhausting their UMCE funds, they should contact the computing core at PSC. The core will be able to set-up additional funding accounts.

If you need additional information about the services that ITD provides, see Getting Started @ U-M.
