I'm interested in looking at birth weight as a measure of child well-being. I can only find this in the Child Development Supplement (CDS), but this is only available from 1997 on.

Birth outcome data for the PSID are available from the Family History Files:
http://simba.isr.umich.edu/Zips/zipSupp.aspx#MH.
These are not part of the Data Center extraction tool. However, these records can be merged to the extract based on a Data Center extract.
