Q:

I need data for all zip codes in the nation. Getting the data via American FactFinder looks tedious because it only allows one to download 7,000 geographic areas at a time. What is the easiest way to obtain characteristics on zip codes?

A:

American FactFinder no longer has download limits. The first step is to choose 5-Digit ZCTA from the Geographies tab on left side of the American FactFinder window. You will then be prompted to choose a state. Instead of choosing one state chose the sentence that reads: All 5-Digit zip codes tabulation areas within the United States. This will be listed near the third bulletin in bottom box.

Once you have selected that, all tables that contain ZIP code information will populate the FactFinder window. You will be able to use the search function to find whatever table you need. particular information or table.
