Q:

Do you have a quick way to access the Current Population Surveys (March supplements) prior to 1992? I am trying to get a small extract from each year, but the DataFerrett access only lets me go back to 1992.

A:

Absolutely. The best choice is to use the extraction system at the Minnesota Population Center:

http://cps.ipums.org/cps

You need to register for access, but you are approved immediately.

The only drawback of their system is if you want lots of family items. It is not clear to me how they are handling the family variables, but as long as you mostly want a person level extract with some housing items like state, you are in business.

The data extend back to 1962.
