Can you help me find the University of Michigan Inflation Expectation Survey?
This is part of the Survey of Consumers. There is a public access version of these data.
Once I got there I chose to look at the cross section archive. I browsed the codebook and looked under Group Headings. The 5th heading is “Inflation Expectations.”
If you are interested in a time series of these data, choose time series instead of cross-section. Choose Table 19: Expected change in Prices during the next 12 months.
You can get this from 2000+ for all households.
To make sure that is the correct question, go back to the cross-sectional archive and look at the questions associated with “Inflation”.
You can also choose and look at the data from 1978+ for demographic subgroups. Again, the “Prices” variable (next 12 months; next 5 years are available).
