Abstract
This is a description of the basic geographic entities that the Census Bureau uses in its various data tabulations.

The geographies included in the manual are states, counties and statistical equivalent entities; American Indian and Alaska Native Areas; County Subdivisions; Places, Census Tracts and Block Numbering Areas; Census Blocks and Block Groups; Urban and Rural Classifications; Metropolitan Areas; Voting Districts; and Area Measurement/Water Classification.
