Abstract
The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Research Division provides support in a variety of ways to planning staff, local governments, planning partners, consultants and the general public. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a growing technology that combines database information with geographic features such as community facilities, streets and census tracts. GIS requires hardware, software, data and people to create effective tools that can be used to view, query, analyze and map our region and world.
