The Population Studies Center Library was founded in the early 1960s by Ronald and Deborah Freedman to support the research and training activities of Michigan Population Studies Center. Since the institutional and physical move of PSC to the Institute for Social Research, the library has provided information services to the wider ISR community as well. Jointly supported by PSC and ISR, the library is committed to supporting the needs of ISR faculty, staff and students. We strive to

  • understand the information and research needs of our users
  • build collections that are unique to PSC and ISR research
  • create resources to promote efficient uses of existing campus services and resources
  • develop information services to contribute to ISR productivity in publishing, project funding and other research-related activities
  • promote the dissemination of ISR research results by organizing and providing access to current and historical ISR publications
  • serve as a resource for information about ISR
