Lisa Neidert analyzes census data to determine population shifts in Michigan since 2000 in the under-18 age group. Overall, Michigan lost almost 10% of this population during the decade, less than 1% overall. It’s a sign young families are heading out of state, probably for greener economic pastures. Neidert provides percentage changes for the overall population and for children in 28 communities in Michigan.
