Recently the United Nations has begun looking into the factors that contribute to a nation's well-being and happiness. In this opinion piece, Ron Inglehart is quoted on his findings from the WVS: "Generally, a rising global sense of freedom in the last quarter-century has eclipsed the contribution of pure economic development to happiness."
