On July 27, Amanda Mercer, Jenny Sutton Jalet, Melissa Karjala, Susan Butcher and Bethany Williston teamed up to establish a new world record time for a two-way swim of the English Channel -- 18 hours and 55 minutes. Partnering with Ann Arbor Active Against ALS, the organization founded in honor of Bob Schoeni, they swam to raise money for ALS research.
