Farley says lack of tax base will keep Detroit down

a PSC In The News reference

"The often-overlooked roots of Detroit's bankruptcy" - Detroit News. 12/19/2013.

In this op ed piece, Reynolds Farley summarizes the severe problems that brought on and will continue to maintain Detroit's troubled economy. "Even assuming Detroit emerges from bankruptcy with fewer debts," says Farley, "the city’s leaders will govern a location whose tax base is far too small to support municipal services for the 700,000 residents living in its 138 square miles."
