Analyzing PSID data on yearly neighborhood context for 4,000+ children, Geoffrey Wodtke and David Harding find that growing up in disadvantaged neighborhoods significantly reduces the probability of high school graduation. The severity of the impact is considerably larger than effects reported in prior research that does not account for exposure duration.
