Dr. Waidmann’s research focuses on the economics and demography of health, disability, and retirement. He has studied the impact of deteriorating health on retirement decisions; the welfare economics of social insurance; the effects of government social insurance programs on labor force behavior; the health of young adults in impoverished areas; and the effect of poor health on fertility timing.
