Wendy Manning

Professor, Department of Sociology, Bowling Green State University.

Dr. Manning's research focuses on social change and family behavior. She has compared the fertility behavior of cohabiting, single, and married women; and examined the outcomes of cohabiting unions based on socioeconomic prospects, gendered division of labor, gender attitudes, marriage intentions, and childbearing. She has studied nonmarital childbearing; social support networks available to young unmarried mothers; African American and white mothers' economic ties to children; and fathers' ties to their children.
