Investigator: Yu Xie
An advanced graduate student in our program will work under Yu Xie's supervision to pursue topics of interest to the Global Market Industry Analysis (GMIA) group at General Motors. This continues an arrangement that has been successful during the past two years. Topics for analysis might include:
1. A 'bibliography' of Census Bureau demographic and socioeconomic surveys, including survey names, key variables, frequency of data, methodology, and data release schedule.
2. A Demographic/Socio-economic scan, following a model provided by GMIA.
3. A study of "Immigration and Economic Mobility." Study would address how immigration and economic mobility interact and implications for the new and used vehicle markets.
4. 'Aging' a group of psychographic segments ten years into the future using demographic or household characteristics.
5. An analysis of demographic shifts, socio-economic status, and labor force participation of Diversity Markets (focus on African-American, Asian, Hispanic, and Women).
6. A study of regional population and age shifts, including the interaction of birth rates, population aging, diversity groups, and geographic mobility.
