This proposal is in response to a request from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to offer a post-doctoral training program entitled the Health and Society Scholars Program. The program will support two-year awards for three post-doctoral Scholars per year over a period of 5 years, faculty and staff time associated with the program, and various additional training and administrative costs. The Director of the program is George A. Kaplan, Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Epidemiology, and the Associate Directors are James S. House, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology and Senior Research Scientist, Survey Research Center, Sherman A. James, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Epidemiology and Professor and Chair Department of Health Education and Health Behavior and, David R. Williams, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology, Professor of Epidemiology, and Senior Research Scientist, Survey Research Center.
