Collaborative Social Science Research and Training in South Africa

Investigator:   David Lam

This proposal requests three years of funding from the Mellon Foundation to support training activities and capacity building between the University of Michigan’s Population Studies Center and a number of institutions in South Africa. Activities will build on an existing set of highly successful collaborative activities that have been supported by the Mellon Foundation. We are very excited about the successes we have had in building strong collaborative relationships with South African institutions, and are pleased to have helped play a role in building capacity for quantitative social science research in South Africa,. We are very committed to continuing and expanding these relationships, and appreciate the opportunity to request additional funding from the Mellon Foundation to support our efforts.

Funding Period: 06/18/2004 to 09/30/2007
