Project: Tracking the Response of National Happiness to Events
1. Purpose
The purpose of this survey is to study the response of happiness to events, and to relate movements in happiness to altruism, personal news and news seen on television.
2. Brief Summary
In this project, yes/no data on the whether people felt happy, sad, depressed, and whether they enjoyed life in the past week will be collected on all 500 cases on the Surveys of Consumers in each month from April 2007 through January 2008.

(1) Population U.S. Residents
(2) Number of Samples 500 per month x 6 months=3000
(3) Sampling Method Random sampling of phone numbers
5. Method
Additional telephone survey to the consumer survey conducted by the University of Michigan

② Sad Last Week
③ Depressed Last Week
④ Enjoyed Life Last Week
7. Scheduled Survey Period
April 1, 2007 through January 31, 2008
