HRS-International Supplement

a PSC Research Project [ARCHIVE DISPLAY]

Investigators:   Robert Willis, David Weir

The Health and Retirement Study (HRS) requests an administrative supplement to support the development and implementation of comparable studies in other countries, primarily in Asia. The value of international studies comparable to HRS was described in the most recent HRS competing renewal proposal. They add to our understanding of global aging, they broaden our observations on age-related changes in health and cognitive ability, and because the institutional settings for retirement and the provisions of medical care differ widely across countries, they provide natural experimental evidence on the impact of such institutional incentives on behavior that can guide policy. Direct collaboration is the best way to ensure comparability.

Funding Period: 09/01/2006 to 12/31/2011
