Casey National Foster Care Alumni Study Start-Up Phase

Investigator:   Steven Heeringa

The Casey Family Foundation is planning a project to collect data on alumni of foster care, to inform policy makers and help them provide services that will improve the lives of alumni and youth currently in care. SRO's eventual involvement in this project will include collaborating with Casey Research Services staff on sample design, state recruitment, questionnaire design, data collection, and data analysis and report writing.

SRC’s involvement in this preliminary work, to help inform the larger design and data collection work, includes only SRC costs for a pilot study to be conducted between December 2006 and March 2007. The pilot study will include tracking and interviewing 200 foster care alumni from two states (Michigan and Texas) in February 2007. The goal of the pilot study is to help us determine realistic location and response rate expectations for this population, and to provide information about other issues that may be faced in the national study. The information we get from the pilot study will be used to inform our planning and fund raising activities for the national study

This new supplemental work will be added to the current Casey National Foster Care Alumni Study Design phase project (NaFCAS)and the additional funding will be added to SRC parent P/G #N008279.

Funding Period: 10/01/2006 to 12/31/2006
