Child Care Research Collaboration and Archive, Year 5

Investigator:   Myron Gutmann

The Child Care and Early Education Research Connections (CCEERC) project is a cooperative agreement with the Child Care Bureau within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the US Dept. of Health and Human Services. The prime contractor on the project is the National Center for Children in Poverty at Columbia University. The CCEERC is a web-based knowledge management system that makes easily accessible quality research based materials in the child care field, promotes the use of research in policy making, and encourages more and better research in the field. ICPSR will have major responsibility for 1) the CCEERC Web site, 2) the IT infrastructure supporting the web site and 3) a special topic archive holding and disseminating relevant child care and early education research data sets. This is an application for a third year renewal of the project.

During year 2 ICPSR completed the redesign of the database and Web-based discovery system. In year 3, ICPSR will continue to maintain and enhance the Web site and its underlying infrastructure. New tools will be developed to manage the collection. The ability to include additional content types will be added A Web-based contributor portal will be developed

ICPSR will also continue development of the Special Topic Archive that focuses on the acquisition, processing , archiving and dissemination of relevant research data in the child care and early education field. With the proposed acquisition of the ACF 801 data, the STA will move into the dissemination of relevant administrative data. The project will develop more extensive disclosure risk analysis capabilities and will begin dissemination of restricted use datasets. We will continue to provide technical assistance to users of and potential contributors to the RC resource database and archive.
