The Population Studies Center will host an intensive journalism education workshop – Census 2010 Data Boot Camp for Journalists. The workshop will provide participants with (a) realistic hands-on experience in the extraction and manipulation of census data; and (b) an understanding of the census as an institution that allocates political power and federal funds. The workshop will incorporate electronic communication tools – a class blog and webinars. We will provide an evaluation of this workshop to the McCormick/Tribune Foundation.
