Policy Analyst
Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC)
The Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC) in Washington, D.C., is seeking a Health Policy Analyst to participate in policy analyses in areas such as the organization, financing and delivery of health services, health care costs, quality of care, and access to care by low-income persons.
Major Responsibilities
The Health Policy Analyst collaborates with the Director of Policy Analysis and researchers to conduct rigorous data- and research-driven policy analyses on a wide variety of health topics. The Analyst participates in all phases of the policy analysis process, working with senior collaborators to identify topics, conduct literature reviews and develop analysis plans. On some projects, the Analyst schedules and participates in interviews with policy experts and takes notes during interviews. On other projects, the Analyst identifies and collects relevant quantitative data. The Analyst also collaborates in conducting qualitative and quantitative data analyses and drafting written publications based on the findings, and may participate in client briefings and other presentations. In addition to these responsibilities, the Analyst participates in writing proposals, developing budgets and tracking project costs.
Qualifications for Position
* Master's degree in public policy, public health, economics or related discipline with superior academic record
* At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in health policy analysis
* Exceptional writing skills, preferably with experience writing about health policy topics
* Excellent oral communication skills and keen ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with others
* Strong applied quantitative skills
* Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work efficiently, accurately and independently
