The Department of Sociology at University of California, Davis invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Poverty and Inequality to begin July 1, 2014. The position is at the Assistant Professor level and is affiliated with The Center for Poverty Research at UC Davis (http://poverty.ucdavis.edu/), one of three federally designated centers whose mission is to facilitate non-partisan interdisciplinary research on poverty and inequality in the U.S. and to train the next generation of scholars.
We seek a scholar with a strong commitment to research and teaching. Scholars studying topics related to poverty or inequality are encouraged to apply; preference will be given to quantitative researchers and those with the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative methods. Supervision of graduate students, student advising, curricular development, and performance of University service are also expected. A PhD in Sociology or a closely related field is required prior to the beginning of the appointment service period start date. The position is subject to final administrative and budgetary approval.
