Abstract:This is an extract from the 1950 Census (Sample A, 1 in 100), created for Sheldon Danziger while he was at the Institute for Research on Poverty. The focus of this extract is the family. Information on many items is summed across all family members. Examples would be number of persons less than 1 year old, number of persons, and total wage and salary income for all family members. Characteristics of the head and his spouse are also available. The file is a rectangular file. Primary families consist of all related persons and unrelated persons 14 years old or younger. Secondary individuals are persons in a household unrelated to the head and 15 years old or older. Group quarter individuals are noninstutionalized persons 14 years old or older living in group quarters.
Universe:All families, secondary individuals and group quarter individuals in the United States.
