Research Centers Coordinating Network (RCCN) presents:

Resilience and Reserve: Defining, Refining, and Advancing Research in Aging

Thursday, 4/30/2020, 2:00pm.   ARCHIVED EVENT

Location: webinar

The terms "resilience" and "reserve" are used in different and even disparate ways by professionals in different disciplines. In order to advance best practices and research on these topics, it is vital to find common meanings and gain a better understanding of their roles in the health and well-being of older persons. Moreover, in order to develop competitive grant applications, investigators at every professional level may need extra guidance on how to frame their research in this area when applying for related grants from the National Institute on Aging.

The goal of this webinar is to discuss current definitions of resilience and reserve and what makes these topics distinct, and to present a programmatic portfolio and resources to encourage research projects in this growing area of opportunity.

The free, one-hour webinar will explore:
• What is unique about the resilience paradigm
• What do we mean by resilience and reserve
• How is the NIA supporting programmatic developments in resilience and reserve
• Where to get started: directory of NIA resources

A Q&A will follow.

Featuring Presentations by:
Basil Eldadah, MD, PhD
Suzana Petanceska, PhD
Giovanna Zappala, PhD, MPH
Dana Plude, PhD

Moderated by:
Jay Magaziner, PhD, MSHyg
