Prescott says online option for access to court system can help equalize justice

a PSC In The News reference, 2015

"In Michigan, access to justice a click away" - Detroit News. 03/12/2015.

JJ Prescott says that the requirement to appear in court to conduct minor business with the justice system is outmoded and inefficient. And the inconvenience of in-person appearances and long wait times has a disproportionate impact on those who can least afford it. Prescott discusses a new partnership between U-M and a handful of courts that allows citizens to "resolve certain tickets and violations, outstanding fines, and missed court dates online, on their own time, working directly with judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement to reach mutually satisfying resolutions."
