Almirall says comparing SMART designs will increase treatment quality for children with autism

a PSC In The News reference, 2015

"Personalized approach may usher in new era in autism therapy" - Sprectrum News. 09/03/2015.

Daniel Almirall and Susan Murphy are comparing two evidence-based adaptive interventions for increasing verbal ability among children with autism. Almirall says their work is intended to help clinicians decide which intervention in what order will work best with children, and suggest whether training parents as therapists has value. The study uses a sequential multiple assignment-randomized trial (SMART) design to evaluate and construct an optimal adaptive intervention.
