Stephenson on research team awarded $9 million for study on HIV prevention in adolescents

a PSC In The News reference, 2016

"NIH awards $9 million grant for study on health disparities in HIV prevention" - EurekAlert!. 08/09/2016.

Over the past decade, the annual number of new HIV diagnoses among young gay men has more than doubled, with disproportionate new infections among racial and ethnic minorities. Rob Stephenson, José Bauermeister, and Patrick Sullivan have been awarded $9 million from NIH's National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to adapt and test an HIV prevention intervention for gay adolescent men. Stephenson says: "With high levels of technology use among young people, particularly smart phones and social media, online interventions offer an acceptable and efficient way to reach this highly vulnerable population."
