A new report by the Urban Institute on the trends in Detroit area residential populations builds on recent analyses done by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, the Michigan Department of Transportation, and the University of Michigan. Among the findings reported: increases in senior-headed households, decreases in black home ownership, and a growing demand for rental housing.
