PDF Teerawichitchainan, Bussarawan, and John E. Knodel. 2017. "Impacts of migration on households in Myanmar's Dry Zone." HelpAge International.
This brief is based on the report "Impacts of Migration on Households in the Dry Zone, Myanmar," by Bussarawan Teerawichitchainan (School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University) and John Knodel (Population Studies Center, University of Michigan). They analyzed findings from a survey carried out by Myanmar Survey Research in 700 households across two townships in the Mandalay Region (Myingyan and Tuangtha) and two townships in the Magway Region (Pakkoku and Yesagyo). The analysis examines migration during the last five years, with a focus on migrants who moved beyond their township for at least one year. The study was commissioned by HelpAge International with funding from the Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund. The full report is available online (Public Access Link below).
Country of focus: Myanmar.
