Political Demographic Studies with the Center for American Progress - Amendment #1
Dr. William Frey and Ms. Cathy Sun will engage in data preparation, programming, analyses, and writing for studies in US election demographics in work with Center for American Progress Senior Fellow Ruy Teixeira. This involves conducting projections by race of eligible voter populations for 50 states, and national trend analyses of total, eligible voter and voter populations by race and other demographic attributes for current and historical periods. Sun is knowledgeable and experienced in the preparation and programming of relevant US Census and related data, and has worked with Frey to develop a projection methodology needed for this project. Frey will supervise Sun's work in the data preparation and programming of these projections and trend statistics, and will work with Teixeira in the analysis and report writing for the project. The Consultant agrees to take the lead on producing simulations of future election results based on race-ethnic projections of the electorates of various states, as well as conducting sub-state analyses of demographic trends among the population as a whole, the voting age population, eligible voters, and actual voters. William Frey, on behalf of the Population Studies Center at University of Michigan, will also co-author two major papers of thirty to 40 pages with Ruy Teixeira, one on election simulations and the other on detailed demographic trends across and within states. Frey will also participate in monthly project meetings with Ruy Teixeira and Karlyn Bowman of AEI, as well as project advisory board and seminar meetings. Finally he will participate in and make presentations at a major conference on project findings in February 2016.
