Impact of the Healthy Michigan Plan on Uncompensated Care and Insurance Premium Rates FY2014

The Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) at the University of Michigan has assembled a team of health services researchers to partner with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Michigan Department of Financial and Insurance Services (DIFS) to prepare a report that: 1) provides and update to the baseline level of uncompensated care borne by hospitals in Michigan during state fiscal year 2014; and 2) provides an updated assessment of how uncompensated care has related to insurance rates and insurance rate fillings in Michigan during state fiscal year 2014. This report meets the requirements of PA 107 of 2013, sections 105(d)(8) and (9).
