Transitions from Preschool through High School: Family, Schools & Neighborhoods - Administrative Supplement

Research Project Description

This project will use data on the same-sex union status of respondents, ascertained in the 2017 interview of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics, to enhance information in PSID's 2014 Child Development Supplement on children living in families in which the primary caregiver is in a same-sex union.

The CDS is a nationally representative longitudinal study of American children that, linked to the rich data in the PSID on family socioeconomic and demographic information, allows researchers to investigate the dynamic processes of early childhood development and the ways childhood experiences influence later life outcomes.

By looking at children in same-sex couple families, this project will contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between family composition and child development and well-being.
