Investigator:   Steven Heeringa

? Through the ABCD Design Work Group, participate in the discussion and planning of the overall statistical design, sample design and cohort recruitment of the ABCD study cohort including specification of initial sample allocation and demographic targets for recruitment at the individual study sites.
? With guidance from the ABCD Design Work Group and the Steering Committee, design, select and distribute to the individual study sites a probability sample of public and private elementary schools to be used in the school-based recruitment of the single birth cohort.
? Provide specifications and guidance to the UCSD Coordinating Center to enable the CC Data Center staff to program and manage a centralized sample control system for the management and monitoring of the school-based recruitment at the individual ABCD study sites.
? Drawing on ISR/SRC and other?s experience in obtaining school cooperation in school-based research, provide guidance to the Design Work Group and the CC on recommended best practices for gaining cooperation of school officials and consenting parents and assenting children for the research.
? Provide specifications and guidance to the UCSD Coordinating Center to enable the CC Data Center staff to program reporting tools needed to monitor the progress (e.g. counts, demographic characteristics, baseline risk level) of the ABCD cohort recruitment across the study sites.
