How Universities Have Failed on Sexual Violence and Why It Matters

Research Project Description

Universities have failed to respond effectively to sexual violence. This failure is not only evidence of gender inequality, it is also a puzzle. Given their ethical commitments and educational missions, why have universities been unable to address this issue? I plan to explain variation in university responses through analysis of sexual misconduct policies and interviews with national leaders. Findings will inform university practices in ways that reduce sexual violence and improve responses to its occurrence.
